Beer is the third most known drink next to water and tea. That why there are so many beer blogs popping up too. It is the oldest consumed alcoholic beverage. Beer is produced from cereal grain, such as malted barley, wheat, corn and rice. Hops are added in beer to give it a bitter taste. It is also used as a preservative. Beers can also be added with other ingredients that could give it flavor, like some herbs and fruits. The process of producing beer is by brewing and fermenting starches.

There are only two types of beers; these are the pales lagers and ales. Beers are usually drank during social occasions. Beer-drinking nations have already been celebrating beer festivals.

Lagers are one of the most popular beers made by large breweries of America. Although beers have been known for hundreds of years, lagers were just recently added. It was said in the Munich that lagers were produced since the year 1400’s while others dated it to be during the 1500’s. Some say that lagers originated in Bavaria, but it is still unclear as to where and when these lagers came from.

These lagers became popular because of it being different from the usual beers. The process of producing lagers was famous in cold locations. The production of lagers were only practiced in these cold places and was only practical to those brewers who deal a great capital because lagers require longer storage time when brewed long. It takes time for lagers to be sold in the market because of this process. Those selling lagers are usually assumed to having low quality and flavor in production. To be able to produce this kind of beer at a lower cost, sellers use grains, such as rice and corn. This, although, lessens the real taste of the beer. It also changes the color and makes it slightly bland, with only a pinch of aroma or flavor having no fruity bite. Examples of these are Miller Genuine Draft, Budweiser, and Coors.

The most famous kind of lager which is known all over is Pilsener. Pilseners originated in Pilsen, a Bohemian town. Pilsener Urquell is the best distinct brand of Pilsener. The classic Pilseners vary from a variety of colors whether this is the style of Germans or Bohemians. Characteristics of German or Bohemian pilseners are bitterness, slightly sweet with no fruity ester having a malty body. The style of the Bohemians and Germans are all malt brews, the style of the Europeans are different. European style of Pilseners is grain brew, from rice, wheat, or corn. Examples of these are Pilsener Urquell, Jever, Bitburger.
